TIPMIP ESM Experimental Protocol Workshop
On 25. January 2024, members of the TIPMIP Team met both in-person and digitally with leaders and collaborators of the TipESM (Exploring tipping points and their impacts using Earth system models) Horizon Europe project, as well as others interested in collaborating with both groups, in order to develop a combined and synergistic protocol for Earth system modeling experiments in TIPMIP and TipESM.
The meeting was led, on the TipESM side, by Prof. Dr. Colin Jones (TipESM WP Lead) and Dr. Shuting Yang (TipESM Project Coordinator). From TIPMIP, Prof. Dr. Ricarda Winkelmann took the lead, with her, Dr. Sina Loriani, and Dr. Jonathan Donges participating digitally, and Donovan Dennis joining in-person. Prof. Dr. Winkelmann additionally serves on the external advisory team for TipESM, and she and Donovan Dennis participated in the TipESM kickoff meeting in Copenhagen the several days previous.
The TIPMIP Team very much looks forward to close collaboration with TipESM in the coming years. We, in particular Prof. Dr. Winkelmann and Donovan Dennis, thank the TipESM leadership and kickoff meeting organisers for a productive week of collaborations, protocol development, and brainstorming!
